That is interesting.  I am sure that I have never set
Preferences/Register/Reconciling/Automatic Credit card payment , yet it was
set.  So was the setting  Preferences/Register/Reconciling/Check
Cleared Transactions.. So now my question is: How did those preferences get
changed and what other settings might have been changed as well when I
started editing a data file previously edited on a Windows machine now
migrated to Linux?
