There is no one solution that fits all situations, but if you only have basic journal entries with no links to documents, you could set the filter on a General Journal to what you want (2 years), export the register, and then import to a new file. This process does not "remove" the entries from the original file, but rather creates a new file with the 2 years of data you desire. Also note that you'll need to enter your opening balances for each account.
