Patrick,

Thanks for your suggestion and pointing me to that Bugzilla enhancement request.  Unfortunately, I think our situations are opposites of each other.  In your case, it seems like you're wanting a way of entering a transaction immediately when the scheduled date of that transaction is sometime in the future.  Basically, when you do an SLR (Since Last Run), you don't even see the wanted transaction in the list because you're not yet close enough to its scheduled date.  At least that's what I think your situation is.

In my case, when I do an SLR I actually have *too many* transactions in the list because I'm *past* all their scheduled dates.  And what I end up having to do is to change the status of all those extra transactions from "To-Create" to "Reminder".  That way only the *one* transaction that I want has a "To-Create" status -- and only that *one* transaction gets created.

The annoying part for me is that when I do an SLR in that kind of situation, I have to change the status of all those extra transactions one-by-one so that only the one transaction I need gets created.

Interestingly enough, even though our situations seem to be opposites of each other, that one enhancement request you made (Bugzilla # 799314) would actually solve the issue for both of us. If the Scheduled Transaction Editor had a "Enter Now" button on top (in addition to the "Edit" button that's already there), we could just use that to enter the one transaction we want immediately, regardless of the current date or the dates of the other transactions in the list.

The discouraging part is that your enhancement requests were made back in May 2024.  Maybe this kind of mod is either really hard to implement, or there's just not enough interest in it.  I'd be curious to know if any other folks out there see a need (or at least the usefulness) of having an "Enter Now" function on the Scheduled Transaction page.

Tom,

I made this suggestion here:

https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=799314

In that enhancement request I wrote, "My current process is changing the number of
days to enter the transaction in advance, running SLR, and then resetting the days in
advance. If implemented, this enhancement would automate the process."

Hi all,

Let me start by saying this is an admittedly minor usability annoyance
-- not even an "issue".  But I'm going to just throw it out here in case
anyone else might have an easy workaround for it. Here's the scenario.

I get to a point where I have a fairly large number of scheduled
transactions due or overdue.  And I want to enter just *one* of those
many transactions.  Currently, what I have to do is select Actions ->
Scheduled Transactions -> Since Last Run..., which opens up that large
list of scheduled transactions.  And most of those scheduled
transactions there have a status of "To-Create". But since I only want
to enter *one* of those transactions, I have to go thru that long list
and change each status from "To-Create" to "Reminder" -- all except for
the one that I actually want to create.

Let me point out that I know I can enter the transaction manually,
possibly by duplicating the previous instance of the transaction. But by
doing that I would screw up the entry for that transaction in my full
list of Scheduled Transactions.  That is, the Last Occur and Next Occur
dates for that scheduled transaction would now be wrong.

So here's my question.  Is there a way to create just that *one*
scheduled transaction that I want without having to go thru that whole
long list of the other transactions to change each of their statuses to
"Reminder"?  And keep in mind that I want the Last Occur and Next Occur
dates to get updated correctly in my full list of Scheduled
Transactions.  Any ideas or suggestions would be welcome here.

Thanks,
Tom
