I don't recall any issue opening an exported (HTML) report in Libre/OpenOffice, but if the office version is really old, that could be a thing. (I've used LibreOffice since it forked a decade or so ago) I'm not at my Mac right now, but will test opening in Numbers later for completeness. I don't recall if it does so properly or not.

Try CTRL+A to Select All while viewing the report, then CTRL+V in a spreadsheet tab to paste.

As for the Export Active Register from a Search Results window, that worked for me as expected. (though I'm already on 5.17)

Does your resulting files have a zero size? If not, can you open them with a text editor? If so, do they respectively look like proper HTML or CSV formatted data?

You first mentioned seeing the export pop-up, then not seeing it. Did it only show up on the top of the window stack the first time? Have you tried Expose to show all windows? Are you running a multi-monitor setup? (sometimes, not having or disconnecting an additional display when you previously had it on or connected with GnuCash running can cause issues where GnuCash remembered your previous window placements *with* the extra display, which isn't there now) Have you tried running GnuCash non-maximized if you are so you can play with window arrangement to find it?

Adrien

I am using Gnucash 5.16 on a Mac (iMac24 using the Apple M1 chip) running OSX
Tahoe 26.4.1.

I am trying to move my search results to my spreadsheet for analysis.

I first generated the search as a report and I then exported the search report
to an html file. I tried to open it in Open Office (the default offering) but
Open Office does not do a good job (and I usually do not use it). I then tried
Numbers and apparently I cannot open an html file in it.

So I turned to csv format and this is where the problem started. When I select
Export Active Register to csv, nothing happens. When I selected Export
Transactions or Account Tree I get a window pop up to define the report and
filename etc.

I have restarted Gnucash but it exhibits the same behaviour. I have checked all
desktops and sent all running apps to the dock but the pop up window cannot be
seen.

I noticed a flash or flicker on the account tab tree so I moved the tabs from
the right (my default) to the top but it also made no difference.

Anyone else had this behaviour?

Any ideas on how to resolve it?
