I don't see it as flame, just making clear that if indeed the HTML is
'fine' and the issue is that OOo or Numbers won't open it, that isn't
necessarily a GnuCash problem, especially if a browser can display it
properly. (see my other reply for the proper way to open HTML in a
spreadsheet with OOo/LO)
Have you tried right-clicking the GnuCash icon in the Dock and choosing
'show all windows'?
That *should* do an Exposé spread of all GnuCash windows and dialogs.
Admittedly, it does not always work.(an issue with the display server if
I'm not mistaken)
Alt+Tab might be worth a try as well. Double-check your Keyboard
Shortcut settings in System Preferences for that key combo to see if it
cycles through just apps, or all open windows. (you want all open
windows in this case)
Since you *do* have a second monitor, my guess is it is opening on it
but is somehow hiding off to the side in NeverLand.
If all else fails, perhaps open the .gcm file for that book with a text
editor, see if you can find the window placement and geometry for that
or any dialogs and edit with some trial and error. Or, back it up,
rename its extension and re-launch GnuCash which should reset all of
your window placements and sizes. (along with the open tab list and
such, but at least you'll solve this issue.)

Adrien

Hi David,
Thanks for your response but please don’t flame me for trying to bring an issue
to other people’s attention. I know how to copy and paste and have done the
analysis I wanted to do through that route but the issue is the software is not
working for me (and possibly others) which is why I am raising it.
I have no phantom monitors, I have a second monitor and I have searched all
over my system and cannot ssee a dialog box. I have just updated to 5.17 and
the problem is identical.
