I do not know for sure, but it seems likely.
When you start a new game there is a dialog to set the game conditions.
Part of that dialog sets the time limits.
The default installation should set it for an hour each with one overtime
period of (I forget) minutes.
Would that reset a manually set level 10 down to level 3? I am sure that the only thing we ever set was the level, never the time.
