Try making an appointment with an ‘Axademic Counsellor’ & go prepared with documentation, transcripts of courses takes, with summaries of each, & compared to B.A. & M.A. courses at York U, & ask for some of these courses to be recognized. On same page, York U course on left of page & similar course u took at previous university. Say clearly u r not asking for the previous degree to be recognized but that y want some of the courses to be recognized as courses already taken. This way u r not redoing your whole B.A. & M.A., but u r taking some ‘make-up’ courses b4 being admitted into the doctoral program. Even Harvard U., Columbia U, & UCLA do this recognition routinely & reconsider on appeal. Online program at another university is also an option, & later moving to full-time once admitted.

On the American side, several Indian university degrees r evaluated as equal to the American degrees. The University of East Africa (in Nairobi, Kenya) is fully accredited in the U.S. & in the U.K.. The Tata Institute programs are not only listed as equal in the U.S., but there r joint programs with leading Ivy League American programs. Only problem, is the high fees going to an American university, but u may wish to explore that option, & how these programs r evaluated in Canada when applying for jobs in Canada. I hope this is useful, & also for others. With no personal interest, I appealed those decisions in Canada, to date to no avail, but there have been exceptions made on an individual basis.
