Just to add - Zohran Mamdani also has Ugandan roots - he was born in Kampala. Plus his dad Mahmood Mamdani is a well-known Ugandan writer, and a politically radical one at that. Zohran, radical as he is, exudes joy. And this joy allows him to carry a radical agenda favouring the poor without overly alarming the overall electorate. John Nazareth
