If I am not mistaken, A.Veronica was some
offic ebearer of the Kuwait Goans Association. Bigoted
statements do not suit such a reputable position. It
is unfortunate that men like AV and Agnelo Gomes speak
in crude ways to espouse the Goan cause. I have wished
we had Goan men like before who held themselves in
dignity and spoke proudly but fairly.
It is such men who despite being aflame with
passion, ruin the image and mission of Goan identity
by silly talk.
It is all a matter of the mind. If Goans and
the Goan govt had to be shrewd enough, all new
settlers in Goa would have been better assimilated
into the Goan ethos and psyche to the extent that they
would not be considered non-Goans at all.That has
happened to a small extent with many Gujarati,
Keralite and Tamil people and even foreigners. But
overall,due to the laissez-faire attitude and lack of
strategy and action, today we have Goans cowering and
flinching helplessly in the face of the erosion of
Goan identity by external forces.
