Gurunath Kelekar of the Movement for Amity towards Roads in Goa (MARG), for his public spirited work over the decades, especially his recent work towards making Goa's roads safer places to travel on. 2. Isabel Santa Rita Vas of the Mustard Seed Company, for her role in giving young people hope and an avenue to discover and express themselves creatively in the performing arts. 3. Rajendra Kerkar of the Mahadei Bachao Abhiyan for transfroming efforts to save the Mandovi river, into a people's movement. 4. Subhas Naik Jorge of the Kamgarancho Ekvott for his silent yet consistent defence of workers' rights, over the years. 5. Afroze Shaikh of the Pilgao Yvak Kala Manch and Bailancho Saad for promoting the economic independence of rural women and for organising people across communal lines, around rights' issues. 6. Paul Fernandes of the Gomantak Times, for his quiet but persistent pursuit of those social issues that impact the common person. The fellowships are really partnerships in which Goa Sudharop together with individuals and groups in Goa become solidarity and working partners, in a common mission. The fellowships carry a citation and a cash award. They reflect Goa Sudharop's continuing commitment to certain key issues - women's rights, civil rights and the environment, as reflected in some of our previous years winners, Albertina Almeida of Bailancho Saad (women's rights) and Ajay Noronha (abuse of migrant children by pedophiles). Dadu Mandrekar (Dalit rights), Nirmal Kulkarni of Green Cross (wild life and habitat conservation). Besides the annual fellowships, three major projects are currently being supported: 1. The Goan School Computers Project (GSCP) which puts computers in Goan schools. 2. Information and Communication Technology Centres to make information, communication and computer education availabe at cost to local communities. 3. The International Goan Health Project (IGHP) which offers health services to Goans. Over 100 overseas Goans including New York based Victor Menezes, CEO, Citibank (Latin America) and Silicon Valley based Romulus Pereira, CEO, Riverstone Networks, have supported and contributed to Goa Sudharop.
