Dear Netters:

The Indo-Pak subcontinent is wreaked with far greater plagues from so-

It's called the Indian subcontinent actually.

called
elected officials than from the erstwhile colonizers. And the finger pointing
is an easy cop-out, just like that old Goan saying: The robber steals and
runs off with the booty shouting loudly in the process, in order to create
confusion :(

Now what an apt description of Pakistan this is. A front line ally of the US led war against terrorism......except of course, that almost all the terrorism emanated from this ally alone !!!

If any good soul is totally dedicated and committed towards vanquishing
hunger, illiteracy, malnutrition and poverty, then disinformation is spread
and subterfuge resorted to, in order to maintain the status quo, or debunk
the truth.

That should not divert the good soul if the intent is sincere.

Debating and point scoring is the modus operandi of some in order to divert
attention from the real issues, under the garb of false patriotism, etc. As
Tim poignantly wrote: "Whether we like it or not, we (i.e. you and I living
in the West) are still perceived by First World society to be clutching a
begging bowl -- be it real or virtual." Typical Fakirs.

Again you must be talking about Pakistan. India does not beg. It takes loans & pays heavy interest. That is considered acceptable business practice. Not begging. That does not mean there are no beggars in India. But then the homeless are in Europe and US too. But that's another subject altogether that can make a worthy discussion.

After the recent nonresident Goans meet, it is foolhardy to assert: "The
truth is that All Goans are Indians" unless of course if one suffers from
tunnel vision. Goans, from different nationalities converged upon Goa in
December as a wake up call, and its time to take off the blinders.

Being of Goan origin does not necessarily make one Goan. If you are Goan you ARE Indian. The two are synonymous. But if you are of Goan origin, then you may or may not be Indian. However, let me tell you that many people who are not of Goan origin but have settled down in Goa are now far more Goan in nature and habits and attitude than many others who are of Goan origin but have travelled to far away lands and don't miss any opportunity to preach.
