Please, please Mr. Smartins God forbid that you should curtail your postings on Goanet. If there is one thing I agree with you is that Goanet has a mission statement to allow postings even though the powers that be, do not agree with it. To be then guided to not post certain subjects, I feel is curtailment of one's right of speech and freedom to write. Who is to say that what one writes is not of interest to any one. Any posting on the Goanet will not entertain nor be of interest to everyone. So no one should prejudge one's postings.
The only thing though, is your lack of civility, you seem to bring out the worst in everyone and you defend the indefensible. On the one hand you advocate, no, you proffer your thoughts and views on Goanet. Anybody else who does it, including me is given short shrift! I have learnt to accept you as an eccentric, others though, you have rubbed the wrong way. Come on, you advocate kindness to one another and then you chide us. Some of your postings are full of chicanery and double talk. Respectfully I would advise you to take Prosac (under Doctor's orders) or St. John's Wort - might help calm things down a bit. I, unlike you, do not wish to write a screed, so I bid you auf wiedersehen, adieu, farewell and good wishes. In fact, I bear you no ill feelings and if you are ever in London call me, I shall give you Stella my beloved to enjoy as well, since I presume you are single and jingle. You are also an old man, I presume and being brought up the proper Goan way I have to respect you. (bite my tongue). Respect is to be earned and if you expect people to respect you, you should do likewise. Can we start over? Cheers Gabe Menezes Subject: Re: [Goanet] Konkani lessons in the GTA In Portugal they serve a soup called Sopa de Piedra which is made with a smoothe pebble in the soup. It is a custom and unique to Portugal. I am certain that if a Goan was served a soup with a diamond in it, he would first complain and create a ruccus about the diamond, then he would throw away the diamond and then eat the soup as he would never reject anything that he has paid for. So are the Goans. Amin suddorche nam (we will never improve) is what I feel. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
