Goanet next meets in Goa: January 7, 4 pm (meeting point: Kala Academy canteen). Goanet founder Herman Carneiro will be there. See you there! ------------------------------
One doesn't have to be intellectual or "lady-like" to observe that the string of "chief guests" and padris who are given the place of honor, want others (usually the un-ladylikes in the congregation like myself) to make the sorpatel, cook, wash up, sell it etc etc. Isn't it high time that they made the sorpatel, dished it up, donated some money themselves, and did something practical for a change? Having sponsored many a Mass here in the San Francisco area and seen priests and guests leave without producing any action of any sort, I speak from experience. Dear Madam, You have spoken out like a brave trooper and I whole heartedly agree with you. This kind of thing goes on everywhere within our community. People are felicitated and feted make some pronouncements and in my personal experience all these promises come to nought. Some years ago we even had a very prominent Goan who promised to get us a grant from the Lottery Foundation to do up the clock tower at our now deceased Club House. Everyone knows the story....... Cheers, Gabe Menezes. ########################################################################## # Send submissions for Goanet to [EMAIL PROTECTED] # # PLEASE remember to stay on-topic (related to Goa), and avoid top-posts # # More details on Goanet at http://joingoanet.shorturl.com/ # # Please keep your discussion/tone polite, to reflect respect to others # ##########################################################################
