pardon my question. 'sh', 'x' etc are transliterated devanAgarI symbols. however which symbols refers to which sibilant consonant is not entirely clear. In devanAgarI sort order they are: palatal z, retroflex S and dental s. All in HK notation. besides there is the conjunct consonant kS as in kSetra. Konkani phonology is nicely described in Dr. Matthew Almeida's A Description of Konkani. It uses IPA equivalents. I have not found a description of the peculiar transliteration scheme originating in Portuguese Goa. How are the sibilants transliterated? agnelo > --__--__-- > > Message: 11 > Date: Mon, 5 Jan 2004 07:51:16 +0000 (Hora padro de > Greenwich) > From: "Teotonio R. de Souza" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Cc: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: [Goanet]Re: Sh or x in Konknni > Reply-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > > Dear Jorge > > Here goes a response from another Konkanologist.
