Failing that, what about the Xavier Historical Centre putting something down in writing about Xavier from the historical documents, Xavier's letters etc. rather than leaving us to argue about the myths that surround him? Who would believe people like me who have perused some documents? I happen to have read a letter from him to the King of Portugal (Costelloe's translation) requesting that the Inquisition be brought to Goa and he also strongly supported Miguel Vaz, the Vicar General of Goa, who organized the Rigour of Mercy policy of temple destruction. Should anyone be offended if historical documents are examined and made public? I feel this is a job for the Xavier Centre of Historical Studies.
