Dear all, The following is an excerpt of the TGF & XBS dialogue -page 4 found on http://www.colaco.net/1/HarderTalk1961d.htm
There are links to pages 1, 2 & 3 I found it interesting in view of some recent cyberGoan discussions. Your crtical input is welcome. good wishes jc ========================= [EXCERPT] XBS: Specially sad as the Portuguese were crooks. They LOOTED Goa of all her mineral wealth. TGF: So, the Portuguese looted Goa's mineral wealth but remained poor; but the original Kolhapuris turned Goa mine owners like the Shougulos got wealthy?! Ok, I get it. The Shougulos were Indians..but they were ?Portuguese citizens! So, you are right, the Portuguese did loot the mineral wealth of Goa. And that other fella like Daiananda Bandorcar? Well, was he Portuguese? XBS: And what about the Goan GOLD that the Portuguese stole? XBS: Where did you find this propaganda? Not from some Nair, Burro or Sinna, I hope. XBS: I read it in a Goan newspaper clipping some time back. TGF: And you believe everything you read in the newspapers? XBS: If it was untrue, Goans would have written to the newspapers in protest. Did They? TGF: I don't know if they did. All I can tell you is that you should read carefully before you spout an opinion. Engage you brain man, before you open your mouth! XBS: So you are telling me that the Portuguese did NOT steal Gold belonging to Goans? TGF: Yes! I am saying that. XBS: Very good then. Now tell me What Gold they returned in 1991 after being shamed into accepting that they had stolen the gold. 1991 hear me!? a full 30 years after they swiped it from Goa. TGF: Bozo Singh, you are a PhD in half truth. Just think about it. If Portugal had stolen the gold, why did the State Bank of India pay them about $50,000 for it? XBS: I did not read that anywhere. TGF: Hear me. Some of this gold was kept in safe deposit at the Overseas bank of Portugal called Banco Nacional Ultramarino(BNU). Some of it was used as collateral for loans taken from the BNU. What should the bank have done when the 1961 action took place. Leave the gold there? To be looted by the Indian army? You do know that shops in Panjim were looted, do you not? So, what was the bank to do? Who, may I ask would be ultimately liable for the security of that Goan gold? XBS: So, how come NO ONE in the Goa says much about this? ************************************ for entire script (pretty long) see link below http://www.colaco.net/1/HarderTalk1961d.htm __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
