Dear Viviana,

Just as an example how all Goans don't think alike. On reading your statement above...

--------
What Cecil Pinto thinks
Aha! So Ariosto and Viviana have lots of close relatives in Goa. Perhaps I should make a sales pitch for EXPRESSIONS flower delivery service.

What Cecil Pinto does:
Sends an e-mail with EXPRESSIONS website.

---------

What Frederick Noronha thinks:
Fernandes from Chinchinim? Mmmmm! Must find out what caste they are.

What Frederick Noronha does:
Opens his indexed database. Enters "Fernandes" and "Chinchinim" and finds out what caste family your sister-in-laws married into.

----------

So you see Viviana when making your comments please understand that there are Goans and there are Goans. There are some who are very caste conscious and like to make others feel the same way. In fact I have learnt more about caste issues here on GoaNet than in real life. And I don't live a cloistered existence. I have lived (not holidayed - lived) in Aldona, Calangute, Old Goa, Corlim, Taleigao, St. Inez and in Miramar. In a chance conversation sometimes, normally surrounding a marriage proposal, caste might just be mentioned. But these are very rare occurrences. But here on GoaNet caste seems to be very much discussed. Maybe it's part of some higher vision.

Cheers!
