Cecil - as usual you have managed to find humor in any situation. My
only question is this: If caste can be ascertained by name and village,
why is there ever a need to mention it?

... In a chance conversation sometimes, normally surrounding a
marriage proposal, caste might just be mentioned. But these are very
rare occurrences. But here on GoaNet caste seems to be very much
discussed. Maybe it's part of some higher vision.
