Fellow GoaNetters........ I have silently endured some of the postings on GoaNet in recent months, and am ready to depart, but before I do, let me vent my frustration.
Some of the postings that we have seen lately are downright disgusting. Under the guise of free speech and open discussion the GoaNet Administration has allowed such drivel, which in previous years would have probably been censored and the offending parties banned from GoaNet. I strongly believe that when one engages in duels with fools one becomes a fool himself. That is why so many of us who read the postings on GoaNet use the delete button very liberally. But even that exercise is getting to be tiring. I dont believe what we are seeing on GoaNet is what the founder of this discussion group, Herman Carneiro, envisioned for the group. Instead of all the arguments about the USA vs Canada and or the UK, and Iraq, which most of us dont give two hoots about, why cant we get back to discussions about Goa, or India, (to which Goa belongs, despite denials by some)and channel our energies into doing something for Goa ? If you dont care about Goa, then why are you on this site ? I am sure you are on this site, because you are either a Goan or a Goaphile and you love Goa. So let us channel this tremendous pent up energy into doing something for Goa. There are so many organizations including Goa Sudharop and World Goa Day which are working tirelessly to improve life in Goa. I am sure they could use your help including donations. I truly wish we would avoid attacking each other or making references to someone's caste, religion, ethnic origin or their country of adoption. Surely we have more important topics to discuss ? Consider me another dis-illusioned GoaNetter and throw as many brickbats as you wish. I am very proficient at pushing the delete button !!! Vivian A. D'Souza (not to be confused with Viviana)
