I would dare to suggest that the appellation "konknno" belongs to a bygone era when there was mistrust between Hindus and Catholics in Goa. My grandmother (may she RIP) and her compatriots would never trust Hindus even though on the surface they appeared to be cordial, engage in commerce, and would caution us not to believe or consort with Hindus. As Goans it would behoove us to put the past behind and pull together because we are one people and religion should not divide our little land. I trust Mr Raikar doesn't realy believe the condition currently exists. Having returned to India only intermittently and for very short periods of time I can only presume that conditions have changed for the better even though there is bound to be an occasional bad apple in the bushel...

Subject: [Goanet] Goan 'Kokno' used derogatorily

It lools like GoaNet is only for Catholic subscibers,i am a hindu (goan kokno) and when i read hindu word being used in a derogatory manner,i really feel bad.

My friend Mr Carvalho(catholic) and myself and suffered at the hands of
konkani protagonists at the time of Konkani agitation. And I do not want
similar agitation taking place for Anti Mopa airport.I had narrated our
harrowing experiences we suffered at the hands of Goondas (i will not say
catholics). But it was not published.I would like to ask why was it not
circulated amongst GOANET Readers.

My sincere appeal of not using Hindu word in a derogatory manner.
