After I wrote the mail on labour conditions in India, I happened to see a documentary on working conditions in Chinese manufacturing units. The conditions were inhumane to say the least. People worked for 16 hours without a break in closed spaces often without ventilation. They were then made to live in dormitories, the conditions of which would make a hardened soldier weep.
I have always said Malthus was right.
