Thought this might be useful and interesting.

As I browsing through the Chambers Dictionary (New Edition), I found a
entry, 'Shirodkar's operation' in it which means " 'an operation in which
the neck of the womb is closed with the suture to prevent miscarriage', (N V
Shirodkar, 1900-71, Indian Obstretrician)'".

As the name couldnt have been anything but of Goan ethnicity, perhaps
somebody could tell us more about him, to be included amongst Great Goans,
if the case may be,--without alluding to his roots, low caste or otherwise,
Shastikar or Bardezkar, Warriors or not, or anything that betrays a medieval
mindset, a deeply rooted prejudice that projects narrow outdated ideas about
one's origins.
