Even at the risk of allowing this thread to go into discussing persons (instead of issues), let me say that my only contribution was sharing content. That too, mostly in the past. Now, with much more Goa-related content becoming available online, I see less need to be active in that space. Which is why I'm "retiring" to posting the occasional link :-)
Many individuals (especially Herman, in Goanet's case and more) have contributed immensely to building the "Goan cyberworld". Among them would be Marlon (websites, till this date a regular at the Goanetters' meets, whenever he's in Goa), Uly Menezes (websites), Vishwas Chavan (content), Eddie Fernandes (content), Joseph 'Boogie' Viegas (modems and tech), Prof Gurunandan Bhat (early adopter of tech in Goa and ready to share it), friends at the GNU/Linux groups in Goa, and many others who followed the mid-1990s generation. I'm sure I've missed out many..... On the other hand, one also learnt a lot of lessons from Goanet... which some of us were able to replicate and repurpose while encouraging other networks to grow in Goa (ILUG/FSUG, SaligaoNet, GoaJourno, Goa-Book-Club, etc). Some of these are still alive and kicking. Subsequently, in the 2000s, a lot of other initiatives came along. Some working individually, others in groups. Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp belongs to a new generation, who have changed the world of social media in many different ways. So, I wouldn't take Eugene's comment without a bucketful of salt ... though I suspect that he believes that if he keeps repeating it, one day I might come to believe it myself :-) FN On 21 January 2018 at 10:30, Herman <[email protected]> wrote: > Dear Eugene, > I felt you took a little dig at FN in your email.
