DISRESPECT FOR LAW AND ORDER
High performance and achieving development goals must be done in India
democratically. Any project affecting the people has to be thoroughly studied
and researched by government, and before implementation made available to
public transparently, on the electronic and all media. Feedback is important,
so are the consequences resulting from ignoring this! For example Union
Minister Nitin Gadakari says projects facing public opposition should be
cancelled rather than making changes! There is no money for people's western
by pass, so he says go as per plans drawn up without really consulting the
people, fill up fields and destroy natural drainages so flooding will occur and
God knows what other dire consequences for the residents! A television channel
is fighting for people relocated due development in Maharashtra. They are next
to industrial units and are all suffering health and life threatenning
problems, all of the men women and children! Now reportedly due public
pressure, government cannot relocate this many people and have issued orders to
close down the polluting industrial units! We have to fight for human rights
and ensure government treats all people with justice and dignity! Look at the
pollution in developed Delhi. This same disrespect is evident in lynchings on
rumours. Why do sensible ordinary people turn into marauding mobs? They cannot
trust powerful politicians and unprincipled police with the slow justice
mechanisms which they have no time for nor can they afford! People are not
guinepigs. Justice and human rights cannot be sacrificed for speedy disposal?
The government is setting up bad precedents, becoming arrogant and crushing the
common man. There is rising farm distress, unemployment, NPAs and election
handouts which can be termed as bribes for votes. Our financial balance sheets
are not at all healthy. True democracy is impossible without being able to
enforce law and order without fear or favor!
