Carmel SC, Sao Jose de Areal win
Carmel Sports Club and Sao Jose de Areal registered easy wins in their respective Goa Football Association Second Division League matches played on Sunday. While Carmel SC eased their way past St Sebastian Union with a fluent 2-0 win at Ambelim ground, Sao Jose de Areal made the light work of SWC Zaino at Dramapur ground. At Ambelim, two second half strikes from Paxton Gomes and Englebert Azavedo helped Carmel Sports Club to earn the three points. The first goal came in the 50th minute before Azavedo doubled the account the 68th minute as neither teams were able to break the deadlock in the first session. In the second game, It was Zaino who scored the first in the 6th minute through Francis Almeida but Areal fought back gallantly and scored three back to back goals through Alvito Moura, Rahman Fernandes and Alroy Moniz but Zaino reduced the deficit just before the breather through Leslie Fernandes. The second half witnessed an end to end affair with both sides playing an entertaining football. Zaino played ther hearts out in search of the equalizer which saw them attack in numbers. They suffered a huge blow when Alvito increased the lead in the 77th minute this killing all hopes of a possible come-back. Sao Jose de Areal won 4-2.
