They are designed to provoke hindus into saying something insulting about christianity and then making this a Hindu christao issue. ------------------------- Oh dearie me, Bhandare is insulted over my religious insensitivity, while all this time this sentiment was obviously not to be extended to Christians and Muslim, by Bhandare himself. That is fodder for another post, and Bhandare is not worth the band-with. I don't care whether one is a Hindu, Muslim, Presbyterian or vegetarian. I have as much belief in Gods or Prophets as I have in life on Mars, the latter having a higher probability of being the truth. I don't care whether one believes in Ram, Jesus or Thor the Thunder God, it's all the same to me. What I do care about is the purgatory of absurdity that India seems to be caught up in. If it's not Muslims calling for the beheading of writers, or Hindus discussing the merits of mythological bridges then it's Christians anguished over Salman Khan's art collection. Where does the nonsense stop? I realise that religion is like poverty, probably more insidious and that its eradication will take time. In the meantime, the best that we can do is offer to be tolerant of everyone's elses dungheap of irrational beliefs if they are tolerant of ours. Which is fine with me, but when private beliefs become public national debates, then we are in trouble. India over the last twenty years has steadily transformed itself into a land of lawlessness, where every absurdity can be protected under the broad banner of "religious sentiment". Don't fool yourself into thinking that India cannot mudslide into a theocracy. Just ask Iranians how it happened to them. And don't fool yourself into thinking that theocracies are anything but sheer hell on earth. Just ask Iranian dissidents or homosexuals for that matter. Everytime we aid and abet a society which retards itself using religion as an excuse then we become partners in robbing our children of a free, strong, secular India. I, atleast, am not going to be party to it. selma ____________________________________________________________________________________ Fussy? Opinionated? Impossible to please? Perfect.
