Well, well, thanks to Kevin Saldanha, I too watched this debate. As an agnostic I, ofcourse, found snarly Hitchens to be a powerhouse but I must admit our Goan bhau Dinesh held his own. Dinesh was in friendly territory at Kings Cross and he did introduce a couple of original and thought-provoking arguments. Hitchens was his usual, "I'm Oxford educated" snarly, condescending, divine self (in the metaphorical sense of the word ofcourse) with his impeccable sense of humour in full bloom.
I deplored Dinesh's posit that Christianity is responsible for the civilisation of humanity, which he didn't even bother to mitigate by given it part credit perhaps. He reminded me of an old Padrevicar at our church, spasmodically bobbing back and forth at the podium, while Christopher snapped back poised, confident and with his signature whiskey glass in hand. V'tius, I'm buying the book anyway. selma --- Gilbert Lawrence <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Over the weekend, I had the chance opportunity to > watch a nationally televised debate of David vs > Goliath proportion.
