Having heard Dinesh for a good 90 minutes, I have to grudgingly correct my earlier pronouncement of him as a drone. The man is intelligent and definitely gave the more cerebraly equipped Hitch, a run for his money. Besides, he's a Goan and as always I am proud of any Goan that achieves prominence, especially in a white male-dominated society. Since I am neither a theist, deist or an atheist, I hold all those domains with equal skepticism. However, one cannot fault Hitch on his most fundamental premise, that religion cannot in any way be construed as having been divinely inspired. And I agree with him that, perpetuating it on innocent children is almost criminal. I think his response to the Fijian man was most appropriate. If religion was indeed guided by the hand of God, or the word of God, then its inequitable dissemination, belies any justice on the part of this God. Either he is apathetic to some societies or unable to reach them due to some connectivity problem. Which goes back to what Khushwant Singh has been saying for eons, given God's total indifference he is either not omnipotent or omniscient. take care, selma __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
