A secular education in a secular country, adheres to
the curriculum set by the National Board of Education.
It is devoid of all and any religious references.
RESPONSE: And which secular country did you have in mind??
A faith-based school, will in addition to the national
curriculum, incorporate their own syllabus which
ofttimes includes religious references,
pseudo-scientific ideas (such as Intelligent Design),
religious history, religious cultural activities (such
as celebration of Christmas, Hanukkah, etc), and
appoints itself the guardian of a person's spiritual
consciousness.
RESPONSE: Which schools in India teach Intelligent Design? Your first thread
on this subject :
http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2007-December/065900.html
indicated that "Catholic-managed" schools (in India) do not propogate
Catholicism and that "there is nothing to be gained from an education
nuanced by religion, even in the slightest, and indeed a great deal to be
jeopardized."
In your second post on this subject:
http://lists.goanet.org/pipermail/goanet-goanet.org/2007-December/066019.html
you reversed course and said "To the best of my knowledge Catholic schools
in India offer an outstanding secular education".
And we still haven't established what is "secular education" notwithstanding
your circuitous response above.
For a more detailed understanding of the subject,
please use your google.
RESPONSE: There is another prolific poster here on Goanet who says the above
when he paints himself in a corner. Besides, that could be the source of
much of your problems - too much Googling; too few good hits!!
