In revising the definition of casteism someone equated
caste with any other form of identification, such as
nationality. Nothing can be farther from the truth.
One can be proud of one's nationality. But only a
casteist would be proud of his "higher" caste.

It would be worthwhile to discuss strategies that any
regular individual can adopt to get rid of caste in
his or her own life, and promote caste blindness in
general.

One very obvious strategy is this. In most parts of
India, including Goa, one bears the stamp of caste on
one's surname. So changing one's surname to a
caste-neutral one should be a good start. If you have
a multi-part surname, get rid of the part(s) that
reveal your caste. If your one-word surname indicates
your caste, a good rule of thumb to make up a
caste-neutral surname that is unique to Goa is to add
"cho", "chem", "voilo", "voilem", "antlo" or "antlem"
after your place of birth. For example, Chimbelcho,
Ponnjechem, Patteavoilo, Toncavoilem, Molleantlo,
Pajifondantlem, etc. "Kar" and "Kann" could also be
used, e.g. Elekar, Merxekann, and so on.

Cheers,

Santosh
