Fred, I feel it is fine to title the portrait as "Portrait of a Gaudi." Its how the Rajan, as the photographer perceived the image he shot. Needless to say, if we lean towards being PC (or protective) about his artistic/cultural impression, we may err towards censoring free though and speech.
Biases, when they exist in us, sooner or later erupt. One can rarely hide those for long. If one translates Mool as, Original/Rooted, then Mool-Goenkaranchi Ekvott, would perhaps mean, Collective of Original Goans, OR Collective of Rooted Goans. I do not know the politics, but on the surface it appears as though their specific forum, is to keep their issues alive, whatever their issues are and also political clout or lack there of. I do not know whether they are opposed as a tribal group, in seeing themselves as not having any commonality with other Goans. However, even if they do feel estranged it may be hard to accuse them, on that account, considering their journeys to the edge of modernity. Venantius > From: " Frederick [FN] Noronha * ???????? ??????? " > Nice photo. But your labelling reveals the bias. Why portrait of a > "Gaudi"? It should be "Portrait of a Goan". (All the rest of us are > ghantis ... from this lady's perspective ... and that's what the > Mool-Goenkaranchi Ekvott suggested by their very name... just as Rajan > Parrikar does by berating recent-migrants on a daily basis.) --FN --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spread the Christmas Cheer, even when you're not here!
