To Goanet -
Several 5-star hotels in Goa today employ outsiders as
waiters & staff who adopt Goan Catholic names in their
workplace. Some weeks ago, I asked "Michael" at a
well-known resort in Sinquerim to bring me an "undo."
He simply smiled. I repeated my request, and again he
smiled. The gist of it was that "Michael" was from Chattisgarh.
You will similarly find "Tony" (real life Bijoy), "Cajetan" (real
life Sandeep), "Mario" (real life Binu) etc etc from Jharkhand,
Chattisgarh, Orissa, Nepal etc etc at other 5-star hotels
around the state.
