<Goa plans to develop 'Western Circuit' for tourism Goa is nowcontemplating on developing circuit tourism and a `Western Circuit'involving neigbouring states in the region is currently being workedupon. The state government plans to include Maharashtra, Gujarat, MadhyaPradesh and Chhattisgarh. According to Elvis Gomes, Director of GoaTourism Department, circuit tourism will further boost tourism andeconomy of the respective states. Packages tours for this circuit willbe created with Goa as the starting and ending point of the tour,according to Gomes. The idea is to provide a different product and alsochannel the large number of tourists, both domestic and internationalvisiting Goa to the other states. >>>
This is another example of the "pie-in-the-sky" syndrome. Somehow we dont believe in crawling before we can walk or run. Its like IFFI 2004. Talk big and end up with a flop show. And take 3 years to re-wind. The more sensible thing to do in this case would have been to have a small, nearby circuit instead of a big, far out one. Why not Belgaum, Hampi, Bijapur etc for one. And Ajanta, Ellora, Aurangabad etc for another. Let's have less talk and more (successful) action.
