In response to this from Ferdinando dos Reis Falcao: .... nowadays everyone likes to a Dr. prefix to their names, like Ph.Ds, dentists, physiotherapists, etc. If he is a medical doctor, I am ashamed that our medical profession can stoop so low.
Cecil Pinto <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> asked: Is it not valid for Ph.Ds, dentists and physiotherapists to use the prefix 'Dr.'? == Dear Cecil, I'd say that it is absolutely valid for Ph.Ds, dentists, and physiotherapists with a doctorate to use the prefix 'Dr." I wonder though whether it has any value on GoaNet unless one is talking about a subject in which one has a "Doctorate" or in the case of a Medical Doctor (MD), the topic is medicine - in which case, it would signal to the reader that one has special qualifications or skills to talk with authority on a given subject. I fail to understand what the inclusion of the "Dr" prefix has to do in a discussion of politics - unless one has a Political Science doctorate. One thing is for sure - almost every writer on cyberGoa has qualified with a DRPC (Doctorate in Recognising the Political Chicanery) that the Goan Politicians are into - be they BJP, Kangress, MGP or whatever. Almost every cyberGoa writer knows by now that the main crooks are the same - never mind the official party affiliation they claim to have in any given month or year. As far as real Medical Doctors are concerned, it is my belief that they would NOT consistently advertise that they are Medical Doctors - especially when not discussing medicine. just my view jc
