Of the many useless discussions I have come across on Goanet and great many I have participated in, among which can be listed:
US is better than UK UK is better than US Canada is better than both Goans in Goa are better than expat Goans Hindus Goans are more patriotic than Catholic Goans Indophiles and better than Lusophiles BJP better than Congress Congress better than no dress Bardez better than Salcete whose politicians are selling Goa this one Doctor v/s Doctorate has to be the most superfluous. Any person with a dint of hard-work and a sliver of intellectual curiosity can acquire knowledge is a specific field. I for instance know a good deal about European history, especially surrounding the Church, only because I have read up on it, not because I have a degree in it. I have read a great many posts from non-titled writers on Goanet, written with the utmost sensitivity, insight and intelligence. On the other hand I have read a great many posts from Doctors on Goanet, which are nothing but utter balderdash. selma ---------------------------------------- --- On Tue, 6/10/08, J.
