Further to Miguel Braganza's observations on Floriano and his Goa Su-Raj Party,
I feel the need to add that Floriano's roadmap leads to just one place -- his
home.
My talks with political observers and a few politicians in Goa has convinced me
that GSRP is nothing but an "internet" voice. When Floriano contested against
Babush, he said words to the effect that he was doing it for the sake of
democracy as no one else wanted to oppose the sitting MLA.
Floriano knew he would be thrashed but still his vanity forced him to go and
stand against a man who is very powerful in his constituency. To make democracy
work, one does not have to make a political fool of oneself. The odds were
heavily staked against Floriano but he felt it would do his party some good
taking on the heavyweight.
His earlier failed attempt to win an assembly seat should have made Floriano
wiser.
A man who said I should be banned from all Goan events projects himself as a
demagogue. Someone who enjoys criticising others but does not want his friends
to be criticised is nothing but a hypocrite.
Elsewhere he said that Manmohan Singh should be jailed for the events in
Orissa. His outburst against Manmohan clears shows his political naivete
naivete. Before making wild suggestions, Floriano should think twice.
I only hope that the sun rises on his political intellect. If it does not
happen, then perhaps Su-Raj Party could turn into a Goo-Raj Party.
