The Goa Su-Raj Party H.O. 383A, Pirazona, Moira-Bardez-Goa-403 507 Sd/- (Floriano Lobo) General Secretary/Spokesperson. 9890470896 Press Statement The Goa Su-Raj Party strongly denounces the forcible eviction of the bonafide member of the Moira Gram Sabha, a member of the Moira Action Committee (MAC) Ms. Venita Coelho, from the Gram Sabha held on 25 October, 2008 at the premises of the Moira Panchayat though the use of the police contingent on security duty for the Gram Sabha on the specious grounds that she was not on the State Electoral Roll, despite her consistent declaration that she was on the roll and requesting the Gram Sabha Chairperson to verify the same. The Goa Su-Raj party also denounces the prolonged detention of Ms. Coelho at the Mapusa police station which was totally unnecessary and unwarranted. The undersigned, being the Moira Gram Sabha Member and having been present for this Gram Sabha meet, had publicly cautioned the Chairperson to tread cautiously to the demands of the vested interests in the Gram Sabha that Ms. Coelho should not be allowed to attend the Gram Sabha, much less speak during its deliberations and had requested him to take Ms. Coelho's declaration on record and give her sufficient time to prove the same. The police action was initiated only after the Chairperson/Sarpanch Shri. Raghuvir Bagkar issued written instructions to the Police in charge of the security detail. This Party is of the belief that this vexious and unnecessary controversy could have been avoided through proper application of mind by the Chairperson/Sarpanch and the attending Panchas and the official observer from the BDO, Bardez. End.
