Hello everybody,

Save yourself first before saving Goa

I am happy to enter goanetters' discussions once again. Especially on a subject on Road Safety.

Mr.Miguel Braganza has rightly pointed out that accidents are common everywhere and it happens
due to so many factors.

I have been writing on Road Safety in all available papers of Goa and I am glad to note that a lot of improvement is seen in the Implementation of the Road Safety measures by the Traffic Police.

Yet I find that the Public apathy towards the Road safety, is seen in a few segments. Once on road, the two wheelers or four wheelers look at the pedestrians with an inferior look and they do not care to stop the vehicles even on he ZEBRA crossings. In this, Police cannot do anything.

Only public should give blows to the driver(irrespective of his status and type of car)

A mentality that should change : "CATCH ME IF YOU CAN!"

On the other hand, the pedestrians do not have Road sense. Even the Roadside animals behave properly on he roads as they walk or stroll.Pedestrians, be it an insider or outsider, the Road Mentality is sickening and the driver feels enraged. In this case " HIT ME IF YOU CAN" is the mental
challenge to the driver.

How to resolve this?

Each Locality some activists should be developed as done by GOACAN or by MARG, TO NOTE DOWN the violations on road and submit the number before the end of the day to the traffic police for issue of challans without any further enquiry into the facts of the same.

Similarly, the Pedestrian crossings are to be marked and manned. If vehicles do not stop, they
need to be intercepted(why do we have interceptors?)

This is not a singular exercise. It is a movement; it is a mission. I think we should co ordinate with Gurunath Kelekar and Martins alongwith other activists to SAVE A LIFE ON ROAD (SAILOR)

Results will take tike and this needs INDOCTRINATION in the minds of all the Road users including
drivers/pedestrians and so on.

WHAT IS OUR PLAN?

with regards,
in the service of Road safety
