Bosco:As far as being a credible source of news I have little doubt that the latter is more credible than the former (an online forum). However it is not clear if JFR authored the column or was interviewed for the column.
Chronology: TOI article above is dated Nov 28, 2008 - No time of posting available FF article above is dated Nov 29, 2008, 3:42pm - Timezone or Location not identified Nov 30, 2008 @ 1232hrs IST, The Economic Times (affiliate of TOI) post a news article from IANS (http://ians.in/) that gives one the impression that JFR was interviewed by IANS. The truth is somewhere out there............ Response: Bosco, based on my limited knowledge of how the media works, generally the newspaper who has commissioned the writer publishes the article under his by-line. Thereafter other publications pick up the article if they find it interesting, rehash it keeping the main body intact and display it as a news report without the by-line so as not to violate any copyrights of the original publisher or by giving due credit to the newspaper from where the article was originally published. That is why you will always find a time gap from the time the original article appears in the newspaper and when it appears in other publications. I am sure regular newspaper contributors like Miguel Braganza, Augusto Pinto, Tony D'Sa and Cecil Pinto would be able to throw more light on this. Regards, Marshall Marshall
