Dear JC, and dear Floriano, It seems relevant to ask, as you did, JC, just what nationality the Goans in Swindon claim to have. I suspect that they are now either full-fledged British citizens, or on their way to achieving that exalted status. If that is so, they should stop looking at the results of Goa's elections and should also stop hoping to get some relief for their plight from our politicians here. They should turn instead to their local MPs in the British Parliament. I do not know Mr. Sardinha, but this I know: Mr. Sardinha owes them nothing. If Mr. Floriano ever votes for the BJP to teach the Congress a lesson, he will be cutting off his own nose to spite Congress's face... Regards to all, Victor

ER[1] Thousands miles away from Goa, Goans in Swindon feel that they have been betrayed by the results of South Goa. jc1: I am not so sure HOW exactly the Goans in Swindon have been betrayed by the South Goa results. This claim of 'betrayal' suggests that South Goa voters had promised 'Goans from Swindon' something else but reneged on that promise. Is it possible for Mr. Rodrigues to advise WHAT it is that South Goa voters had promised the 'Goans from Swindon' and WHAT "consideration" the 'Goans from Swindon' had provided in return? == ER[2] "Sardinha promised to legalize bull fights in Goa. This was one of the platforms on which he stood for elections. But what has he done and promised to do for us Goans?" queries Leopold, who has been working in Swindon for the last eight years. jc2: It is my belief that politicians (even in Swindon and the rest of England) make promises which their voters like to hear. However - this 'Bull Fighting" promise, I hope ....is a lot of Bull == ER[3] "Armed with a degree, I have had to do odd jobs there, while there are so many outsiders in Goa, who have snatched our jobs, sometimes with fake certificates, " decries Leoplod, jc3: I am not so sure how someone from Goa can be employed in the UK 'to do odd jobs' just armed with a degree. Is it possible that this gentleman has a European nationality (albeit of convenience)? If he does not have EU nationality, it could be argued that he is taking the job of European nationals. If he does have European nationality - I hope he upgrades himself sufficiently to compete on the open market. I know quite a number of Goans who are competing at the top level and doing very well indeed. They are NOT depending on the politicians in Goa, the UK or US to give them jobs. == ER[4] Another school teacher Pinto (asked): "Why does Sardinha not think of helping Goans who have been displaced from Swindon during the recession and are back in Goa without any job?" jc 4: What exactly is Ms. Pinto suggesting that Sardinha (or anyone else) does for these displaced Goans? And WHAT, may I ask, is the nationality of these 'displaced Goans' and what 'duty of care' does Sardinha or anyone else in the Goa/India govt have towards these 'displaced ones? == Floriano's COMMENTS on the above: FL [5] Frankly speaking, I was wishing that both the seats in Goa for this Lok Sabha elections be taken by the BJP, not, as Leopold says, because I favour BJP, but this would bring down the ego of the Congressmen of Goa as their noses would be rubbished into the 'sonsodo' stink and at the same time make them sit up and take notice that their so called 'congress bastion' was, punctured yet again. jc 5: So, Floriano - having computed the numbers from the previous elections - are you suggesting that you will now work to elect the BJP in the next State elections? sincerely jc
