Two new showrooms/office spaces, double height (135 sq m each with bath) for lease in upscale Campal/Miramar beach area, Panaji, Goa. Contact: goaengineer...@aol.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Eddie Verdes wrote: And at last we have Dr. Anil Desai who tells us that he has been operating cancer patients from 85 but does not tell us where heoperates....and his this post comes after a gap of months and all that he has said is about Fr. Ivo being ignormaus. Pls note Dr. Anil has not participated in this debate before but he directly attacks Fr. Ivo.goanetters will surely guess why!Why do they hide this IMPORTANT INFORMATION of cancer being cured in Goa to GOANETTERS? This post is mainly for clarifying the genuine queries that Ediie has raised. As to the speculation about my motives: I will leave it to the wise old goanetters. All I will say is that if it is one thing that has damaged goa so much then it is this undercurrent of religious hatred: One example of this is that every Hindu who ever contributes on goanet has been, is being and always will be labelled as Pro-BJP, Pro-MGP or a Hindu extremist. This is a site run by catholics mainly for catholics but the site is dedicated to goan issues and you guys label majority hindus at Goa's peril! Now coming to the issue of cancer: I did not want to publicse my work and therefore did not mention that I operate at Slough and Windsor and Ascot in the UK and have been here since 1989 but have operated on cancer patients in other parts of the UK since 1985. For the last twelve years I have operated on hundreds of bowel cancer patients but prior to that I used to operate on bowel, bladder, breast, stomach and kidney cancers. I do have a wide of experience of these cancers. Why criticise Fr Ivo? To eddie's simple mind: Hindu Extremetist, hatred of christians, priest attacked in a public forum. Not so fast Eddie. I believe religious leaders should speak the truth. They should give hope to people even when they are in a hopeless situation as when they suffer from incurably advanced cancer. I was in goa for Ganesh chaturthi last month. Apart from religious function at home, the most enjoyable time I spent was with a Fr george at Don Bosco technical institute in Margao. This man is probably from Kerala. He runs a charitable school for children from shanty shacks around mega-projects under conctructions and gives hope to these children. He could have told me endlessly about the children who die from disease and hunger, children who get abused in these shacks. But this true man of god has given hope to scores of these children by moving them from these shacks into regular education. I suggest that Fr Ivo spends a day with fr George. He may learn a thing or two. I would also urge Goanetters to support this charity with all their heart. Like other goanetters, I have followed Fr Ivo's eccentric posts on science and other siiues in the past and have never felt the need to respond. However, when Mario commented on other doctors not commenting on this important issue, I felt duty bound to respond. So, no big conspiracy to undermine a catholic priest. simply a desire to set the record straight, Eddie. What about cancer cases in goa? I qualified in goa and worked as a junior doctor in the surgery dept of the GMC for fifteen months. I saw one case of cancer in that time. Now, I hear of someone known to me in goa of having cancer once every couple of months. Diagnosis of cancer is on the increase, maybe incidence is on the rise too. This is why we need to be careful about what we say in public fora about this issue. A very good friend's wife has had surgery for advanced breast cancer six years ago. she is alive and well. A businessman in Panaji whom I have visited regularly since he has bowel cancer surgery seven years ago is alive and well. Two of my very close friends have had surgery for bowel and breast cancer over a year ago and they are doing fine. At the same time, I came to know of one distant relative who is terminally ill with widespread lymphoma. Cancer does kill but so do infections, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes. What is important is that people are not frightened into believing that cancer means death sentence. In large number of cases, all types of cancers are curable and are being cured all over the world including goa. Let us give hope to the sufferers and not frighten them. That is all I have to say.
