You may call him Godfather, I call him Goanet's Patron Saint.
----------- Dear Marlon, 1) I used the Godfather book/movie as an example and did not refer to Frederick as Godfather. Please re-read my posting. Many years back I had referred to Frederick as the 'foster father' of GoaNet to differentiate him from Herman who is the Father of GoaNet . Perhaps you are confusing the two. 2) This confusion in your mind become increasingly evident when you say I characterise Frederick's 'raising' of GoaNet as a 'bad thing'. Please re-read my posting and understand that I am trying to bring the phrase "FN's GoaNet" into popular usage as a tribute to his tireless efforts in nurturing and sustaining this vibrant and partly democratic forum. 3) I have no problem to calling Frederick the Patron Saint of GoaNet. I think that is an excellent suggestion on your part. Another fitting tribute to the man who has selflessly moderated GoaNet in a transparent fashion for so many years. Cheers! Cecil ----------- ----- Original Message ---- From: Cecil Pinto <[email protected]> Look at Godfather. When we refer to the book we say Mario Puzo's Godfather. When we refer to the movie we say Francis Ford Coppola's Godfather. Similarly I suggest we start refering to GoaNet as "Frederick Noronha's GoaNet" or "FN's GoaNet" to avoid confusion in the years to come. No disrespect to Herman Carneiro who founded GoaNet or Bosco D'Mello who does most of the work, but we all know it is Frederick Noronha' baby finally. It is Frederick who 'raised' GoaNet and continues to nurture and protect it valiantly from real and imagined attackers. I think it will be a fitting tribute to our Frederick's effort to have GoaNet named after him. Anyone objecting to my proposal of referring to GoaNet as "Frederick Noronha's GoaNet" please state your objections clearly. We need not change the name or anything. Just common usage will do. --------------
