Jose Colaco's response regarding the word "Goanese" is utter balderdash. It is
exactly balderdash of this sort being perpetuated into eternity that I hope to
correct. Instead of providing us with reasoned proof that the word has infact
become corrupted, he becomes offensive. A likely response from the doctor for
while I have apologised several times on Goanet for being wrong, I have yet to
see a similar response from the doctor.

So I ask the doctor again, please do provide me with proof that for the
British, who coined the word, the word was indeed a pejorative. Just a few
Goans getting needlessly over-defensive does not make it so. Please let me have
historical proof from valid sources that the British used the word maliciously
and in a disciminatory fashion in literature, press and popular writings about
Goans. Please Doc, for once, put your money where your mouth is and give us the
real goods instead of the Bahamian snake dance :-)

Then I will gracefully accept that I am wrong.

Best,
selma
