                        Happy New Year Twenty-Ten

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Frederick and Marshall raise relevant points, but all the Goa Church (by which
I mean the Archbishop's House) had to do was issue a one-liner saying it does
not condone violence and vigilante justice and it has appointed a committee to
look into the matter, including libel against the priest (if that was the
case). However, where the Goa Church gives its critics much rope to hang them
is their deafening silence, similar to the Ribandar priest case a few years
ago.

All the goodwill and hard work of the Church in Goa running orphanages,
battered women's shelters, providing education in schools/colleges, running
hospitals, organizing youth programs, etc. gets a black eye and provides
ammunition for those waiting to criticize the Church (justifiably or
unjustifiably).
