I whole-heartedly agree with Eddie here that Goa needs a system change, though I am skeptical if this can be extended to India as a whole considering that the Maha Corrupters of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's time are in command. :-))

BUT I do not agree that we must elect Honest and reliable people to replace the current corrupt scroundrels who are constantly being re-elected to power. According to me, there are no Bad people on this earth. Every one is an 'Honest Joe' to the core as according to him/her.

I will support my above statement with the following:-

1. If the system is Honest and Non-corruptible, only Honest Jekylls will be attracted to it.

2. Even if a corrupt Hyde is glib enought to endorse the system change and manages to get elected or re-elected under the changed system of governance, he/she will either have to make great sacrifices and belt-tightening exercises, which are unlikely and improbable, Or, leave in frustration for not being able to manipulate the system.

The system must be able to roll its wheels on the ROAD and towards a definite destination. If it sports wobbly wheels, it is bound to take short-cuts or go off the ROAD completely where the drivers remain un-accountable, the system itself being un-accountable.

We at goasuraj have put this 'system change' on line. Happy to say that there are many who have been attracted to it. But the number is very very small. The problem with Goans is they will talk, talk, and talk about wanting a 'system change'. They will fill up the internet distribution lists with this talk and they will consume columns after columns of the news print to stress on the system change needed. But when the time comes to vote, they will give a thousand reasons to justify why they have voted for the same old corrupt system.

:-))

We definitely need to change Goa's Political System. But we must ensure that we elect Honest and reliable people to replace the current Corrupt Scoundrels who are constantly being re-elected to power. If we can achieve this, we will be able to see sustained progress in Goa. When we elect the next parliament, we also have to ensure that the constitution is changed restricting the number of terms one can serve in any position. This will give rise to new ideas which in turn will lead to progress. Electing the same old fogies to office every time only enhances their belief that it is their right to be in the seat and emboldens them to higher levels of corruption since they feel that nothing will happen to them. Our youth should be encouraged to enter politics and serve in Government . This will infuse new blood and fresh ideas into the stagnant and go no where government of Goa.
