Dear Anthony, While doing the interview, Dr Alberto Gomes narrated a fascinating story which gave an insight into Goan migration.
He told me how he met a British academic, whose wife was Indonesian and they both got talking in Indonesian. (Dr Gomes grew up in Malaysia.) Turned out that the British academic was himself half Goan with a link to Assagao! Small (and strange) world this! I don't think "cultures on the periphery" will ever get the attention they deserve from the media (apart from the stereotyped coverage about rape-cases-in-Goa kind of thing, as Devika Sequeira aptly points out). We will have to craft our own media ... or remain forever misunderstood. FN On 30 January 2010 03:26, AF <[email protected]> wrote: > WOW...
