Do allow me to state that you (FN) have deviated from the subject of Rape......which is what this thread is primarily about.
Just so that there is NO misunderstanding, I have never stated that Mario Cabral e Sa wrote "that' article. All I have stated is that Mario was unlikely to have had the "experience" of the stereotyping of Goan women in India; he is, as I stated before, a 'essay writer'. Nothing more. I prefer, at this moment, to put my trust in what the Lino Leitão posted on TGF, and what he told me in several of my conversations with him. Sadly, he isn't around anymore for us to ask him any questions. Lino Leitão struck me as a person who came from that genre of Goans who do not misrepresent the words of others. having said that ....good wishes jc On 19 June 2010 18:10, Frederick Noronha <[email protected]> wrote: You're going away from the issue of stereotypes in Bollywood films to Mario Cabral e Sa's "experience". Incidentally, the book was edited by Mario, but the article in question wasn't written by him. I am sorry, but it is hard to accept a comment reproduced on your website as proof that Nehru called Goans "cooks and butlers". If there is any independent confirmation of such claims, it would make possibly wild allegations more credible. PS: Lino Leitão didn't strike me as being "anti-Portuguese", but rather as someone who saw the colonialism that the Portuguese practised in Goa as an affront.
