Was the Comunidade system one of "local government" or a semi-feudal manner of local land control? I see little difference between the politicians who say "this land is ours to grab" ... and those who pretend this was a perfect system, never mind that it excluded all of Goa's women, and a large section of those not born in the "correct" caste groups that controlled land in the respective village. Of course, this is like stepping on slippery grounds, because, from the arguments put forth, both JC and Soter are fans of the "democratic" Comunidade system.
