To Goanet - Soter,
You have completely missed the point. Yes, according to many, Modi is a criminal. They have a right to that opinion. Likewise they are free to - and they indeed do - air the "Manohar Parrikar is XYZ" allegations. When I first came on Goanet, I was also labelled saffron/RSS and so on and you know that some consider fellows in those orgs to be criminals. So all that's fine. Allegations will continue to fly left, right, and centre all the time on Goanet and in the world beyond. Now let me try again - If Manohar Parrikar were taken into police custody on a specific charge with a pending court case, AND whoever the sitting CM was thought it okay to call on him armed with a box of barfi and a bag of Cafe Central samosas, that would be a matter of grave concern. Or in Goa. After all, how many politicians have been charged and convicted in a court of law? By your thinking, Narvekar and Ravi Naik must be considered clean guys for no court has yet convicted them. In a narrow sense you are right. But pardon me if I call them skunks who should be in jail. There is context to everything. "Innocent until proven guilty" is a great principle - but it works best in a working democracy; in a kakistocracy like India it becomes a travesty." comment: In that case, by applying your yardstick, those who hold Narendra Modi to be a criminal because of the 2002 genocide in Gujarat are also justified in their own right, So also, those who consider Manohar Parrikar guilty of communal excesses and corruption in Goa are also correct in their own right. Because as you claim, ultimately which politicians in this country have ever been charged and convicted for communal killings or genocide? If some people own the right to consider that all Congress politicians are nothing but corrupt and deserve to be in jail, then those who believe that all BJP politicians are communal and corrupt and deserve the same treatment also have their right. The discussion and complaining about unjust accusations stops here. The important thing to remember is "Aiz mhaka zalear falleam tuka". Today it is Micky ,tomorrow it could be me or you. So let us not take human rights violations lightly in a Kakistocracy. -Soter
