Excellent Tribute to Chris Perry

Kala Mogi Candolim in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa organized a Musical Show ‘Chris Perry – Konknni Git-Songitacho Patxay’ on 19th January at Margao and on 20th January at Panjim. The aim of this dedicated programme was to keep the memories of Chris Perry – The doyen of Konkani Song & Music alive among the present generation.

The musical show turned out to be a superb presentation of songs of Chris Perry. In all 18 songs of Chris Perry based on different themes such as love, beauty, nature and Goa’s identity were rendered by popular singers of Goa namely Sonia Sirsat, Anthony San, Sucorro de Santa Cruz, Sonia Fernandes, Maria Cardozo, Shaik Amir, Irene and Tomazinho Cardozo.

Sung in front of a beautifully designed backdrop, Anthony San opened the curtain with a song ‘Do Re Mi’ sung by late Chris Perry himself. Anthony San also sang ‘Maria’, ‘Calangute’, ‘Boong Banga Bang’ with Sonia Sirsat. The popular songs of Chris Perry like ‘Piti Piti Mog’, ‘Bebdo’, ‘Piso’, ‘Paka Paka’ were rendered by the singing sensation Sonia Sirsat and kept the audience entertained. Sucorro de Santa Cruz rendered ‘Cu Cu Ru Cu’, besides two duets ‘Maim Ghe Maim Ghe’ and ‘Zila ani Lila’ with Sonia Fernandes. Clarissa excelled in singing ‘Buyarantlo Munis’ the title song of the film ‘Buyarantlo Munis’ produced by late Chris Perry. Maria Cardozo rendered ‘Red Rose’ while Irene Cardozo sang the most popular number of Chris Perry ‘Sorga Rajeant’. Shaik Amir disguised as Chris Perry enacted an incident that took place in the life of Chris Perry in the 1970s besides rendering a song ‘Chog Put’ of M. Boyer the music of which was composed by Chris Perry.

The curtain was brought down with Chris Perry’s song ‘Oh Goa’ sung by Tomazinho Cardozo in which he has predicted 40 years back the happenings taking place in Goa today.

Directed by Tomazinho Cardozo the music was provided by young musician Mukesh Ghatwal along with Santan (Drums), Edwin (Lead Guitar), Munna (Percussion), Roy (Saxophone) and Romeo (Trumpet). The sound was provided by Rony and the musical show Chris Perry- Konkani Git-Songitacho Patxay’ was produced by Kala Mogi Candolim in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa, GTDC, HCN, Tourism Department and Dalgado Konknni Akademi.
